What is Singladuras?

A story of sailors

Montecillo Singladuras is a story of sailors and shared values between two families. On one hand, Thomas Osborne Mann set sail from England to initiate a legacy of passion for sherry wine. On the other, Celestino Navajas established a pioneering winery in Fuenmayor, Rioja Alta, and his descendants consolidated the name of Montecillo as a brand. In 1973, both stories merge to continue a legacy and drive the brand to new horizons.

Today – almost 150 years after its foundation – Bodegas Montecillo vouches its visionary character and sets sail outside of Rioja, just like the “singladuras” (journeys) undertaken by the steamboat El Montecillo that belonged to the family. The port of arrival: a curated selection of famed varietals and high level wines crafted in limited quantities under the brand Montecillo Singladuras.
