CRAFTING AND AGING
D.O.C.a Rioja Vintage Rating: “Excellent”
History: Along with 1964, it is considered a mythical vintage in Rioja. Our bottle cellar safeguards the last 75cl, Magnum and Double Magnum bottles of this cult wine.
Winemaking and aging:
- Alcoholic fermentation with a 25 day long maceration period.
- Second fermentation in underground vats.
- Barrel aging (oxidative) in high quality seminew French oak during 3 years.
- Bottle aging (reductive) for a minimum of 10 years prior to release.
- Released in 1999.
Tasting note
COLOR: Medium intensity ruby red color with orange hints.
AROMA & PALATE: Potent and of huge complexity where truffle and tobacco notes stand out. With time it shows caramelized-fruit, dates, hay and dry herb notes. Rich and of vivid acidity. Long finish with fruit and smoky notes.
